Cristina’s apartment is the place you need for a relaxing stay at the heart of the great artistic storehouse that is Florence. Occupying the whole top floor of a 19th century building – formerly part of a convent – just 10 minutes’ walk from the Piazza della Signoria, Cristina’s is a self-catering hideaway with everything you could wish for: space, privacy, comfort, all mod cons (air-conditioning, dishwasher, washing-machine, satellite TV and internet connection) and views of the Brunelleschi dome from a suntrap of a roof terrace and the living room window below. At one end of the flat there are two comfortable double bedrooms sharing a new bathroom with walk-in shower, and at the other a fully equipped galley kitchen and separate living room, from which a steep flight of wooden steps leads to the roof terrace. A further loft sleeping area with a sofabed and second showerroom offers extra accommodation for one or two, although the wooden steps it is reached by will be too sheer for younger children to manage with safety. The interior is decorated for the most part in tasteful period style, free of clutter, with antique tables and chairs, good-sized built-in wardrobes and soft furnishings in warm colours. Ideal for a couple but also for a family of four or group of friends.

Cristina’s is three floors up from street level in a narrow thoroughfare close to the Pulci flea market and the historic Sant Ambrogio food market. The position, in a typically Florentine quarter full of artisan shops and local restaurants, is as peaceful as you can find this close to the city centre, with all the major buildings and galleries within easy walking distance.
