The handsome eighteenth century
farmhouse, Casa di Terra, was immaculately restored in the summer of 1998 to create a
house which combines elegance with traditional rustic features. The main living and dining area has a terracotta tiled floor, a beamed ceiling, a central dining table and a Tuscan fireplace in the corner. French windows lead out onto the veranda which has superb views of the surrounding hills where the tower of Radicófani is visible in one direction and Monte Amiata rises in the distance. Also on the ground floor is a well
equipped kitchen and a small double bedroom with its own shower room. The spiral brick stairway leads up to the other
bedrooms: a double with an ornate iron bedframe and net canopy, and a cosy single, which
share a smart but smallish shower room. Each
of the three bedrooms has extensive views. The
house has a combination of reproduction and antique furnishings and ornaments which have
belonged to the owners family for generations, giving Casa di Terra a
very special atmosphere. Casa di Terras location gives it the best of many worlds. While feeling cut off from the outside world (apart from two neighbouring smallholdings) it is less than 1km from the village of Celle sul Rigo, where there are shops and places to eat. It is also well placed for road and rail connections to Siena and Florence. Distances:
